ALL EVENTS WILL BE BASED ON THE BEST OVERALL TIME.
YOU MUST BE BETWEEN THE AGES OF 14 -20 TO PARTICIPATE.
EVENT #1:
HOSE DRAG RELAY
Participants: 4 Explorers
Equipment Needed: Physical Training Gear (Shirt, Shorts, & Tennis Shoes), Helmet and Gloves
Equipment Supplied: 100’ of 2 ½” Hose
Rules
2 Explorers will begin at both ends of 100’
Explorer 1 pulls 100’ of 2 ½” hose 100’ and brings in the hose “hand over hand” until the last coupling passes the marked line. The next person will go once the hose passes the line.
***Hose must be pulled “hand over hand” all the way through until the last coupling passes the line.
***A “yank” or “long tug” that the referee deems unsafe will result in a 5 second timed penalty.
***The explorer cannot pull the hose in a “bundled” fashion. It is recommended that the explorer partner on each side should flake out the hose for his or her partner to prevent this from happening. If the hose is pulled in a “bundled” fashion by the time it reaches the halfway mark, the referee will give a timed penalty of 5 seconds.
Explorer 2, 3, & 4 repeat the last step until all 4 explorers have finished their evolution.
EVENT #2
TIRE DRAG (DUMMY DRAG)
Participants: 4 Explorers (2 on each side of 50 feet)
Equipment Needed: Physical Training Gear, Helmet, and Gloves
Equipment Supplied: Tire with Rope Loop
Rules
Explorer 1 will drag a tire across 50’, once the whole tire has passed the 50’ line, the next explorer will drag the tire the other way for 50’. Note: explorer 1 can do a “hand off” once the tire has crossed the 50’ line but must let go of the rope before explorer 2 makes their way back across the line. You can help push but not after the line (Start and during) Once all 4 explorers have finished the evolution, the event is over.
Hitting the cone will result in a 5 second penalty.
EVENT #3
TWO MINUTE DRILL RELAY
Participants: 4 Explorers (1 sprinter and 3 turn out changers)
Equipment Needed: Full Turnouts- Helmet, Turnout Jacket, Turnout Pants, Turnout Boots, Hood, Gloves ( do NOT need to be Structure Gloves), and Breathing Apparatus. Explorers DO NOT NEED MASKS.
Equipment Supplied: Full Turnouts and Breathing Apparatus will be supplied for all participating posts. It is recommended that each participant bring his or her own gear.
Rules
Explorer 1 (the sprinter) starts at the beginning of 150 total feet
Explorer 1 sprints 50’ and tags Explorer 2
Explorer 2 changes into Full Turnouts (B.A. straps cinched down)
SCBA must be separate for turnout coat
Turn Outs must not be zipped, buckled or secured prior to the event (No slipping into them)
***”Changers” must start the evolution wearing shoes or boots that do not need to be completely tied or zipped.
***All equipment must be buckled, zipped, and/or completely secured and must not be done during the 2 minute drill*** before the next Explorer can continue. The “official” will not let the explorer continue until all equipment is buckled, zipped, or completely secure. The “official” will yell “good” or “go,” to notify the sprinter that he can then continue.
Once complete, Explorer 1 sprints 25’ and tags Explorer 3
Explorer 3 changes into Full Turnouts
Once Complete, Explorer 1 sprints 25’ and tags Explorer 4
Explorer 4 changes into Full Turnouts
Once Complete, Explorer 1 sprints the last 50’ to the finish line.
LUNCH BREAK
Lunch is NOT PROVIDED. You are on your own for lunch
EVENT #4
MAKE OR BREAK
Participants: 4 Explorers
Equipment Needed: Physical Training Gear, Helmet, and Gloves
Equipment Supplied: 3- 50’ sections of 2 1/2” Hose, 1- Smooth Bore Nozzle, Hydrant and Hydrant Wrench
Rules
All Explorers start the event at a designated marked line.
Explorer 1 connects coupling to Hydrant and Explorer 1 stays back to open Hydrant.
Explorer 2 connects the 2nd section of hose.
Explorer 3 connects the 3rd section of hose.
Explorer 4 connects a smooth bore nozzle and shoots down the target (Cone). Time is stopped when the cone falls off the holder.
EVENT #5
BUCKET BRIGADE
Participants: 5 Explorers (3 explorers in center, 1 explorer at tossing line, and 1 explorer at tank)
Equipment Needed: Physical Training Gear, Helmet, and Gloves
Equipment Supplied: Brigade Buckets, Pails and Ping Pong Ball
Rules
5 Explorers form a line between the Fill Tank and Supply Tank (15 feet from fill tank to supply tank).
Explorers must pass the filled buckets from the Supply Tank to the center and then empty the water into the Fill Tank. The bucket must be handed to each person throughout the event.***
Emptied pails must be cycled back to the Supply Tank.
The event ends when the ping pong ball falls out of the Fill Tank.
